Every person in your organization is either an admin or a member. You can change which one someone is at any time — promoting a member to admin gives them control over billing, people, and settings; moving an admin back to member takes it away. This page covers how.
Changing a role is an admin action, and it’s done on the Members page under Settings. For what the two roles actually mean, see Roles: admin and member.
Change someone’s role
- Open Settings and select the Members page.
- Find the person in the member list. Their current role shows as a badge beside their name — a violet Admin badge or a grey Member badge.
- Select the menu (the ⋯ button) at the end of their row.
- Choose Change Role. This toggles the person to the other role — a member becomes an admin, an admin becomes a member.
- A confirmation dialog appears: “Change (name)‘s role to (role)?”. Select Change Role to confirm, or Cancel to leave it unchanged.
The badge updates as soon as you confirm.
What to know before you change a role
- You can’t change your own role. DIJJI.ai blocks it with “You cannot change your own role.” To step down as an admin, ask another admin to move you to member.
- A role is organization-wide. A person is an admin or a member everywhere — it isn’t set per team. Promote a member to admin and they can manage every team and the billing behind all of them.
- Keep at least one admin. Make sure your organization always has someone in the admin role — billing, invitations, and settings all depend on it. Plan a promotion before moving your last admin down to member.
You set a role the same way when you first invite someone — the invitation dialog has the same Member / Admin choice.
